Our 5 Love Languages

Ever heard of the 5 Languages Test? I haven't heard of anyone that hasn't but if you haven't here you go! Since we got married people kept asking us what love language we were and I would tell them we have no idea because we have never taken the test. Well after almost 10 months of marriage and the crazy looks we would get saying we have never taken it, we finally sat down at took the test.

It asks you questions about you and how you like your spouse or significant shows their love. I noticed it asked myself about getting gifts a lot and it asked my husband about intimacy. It was interesting the difference varied between the male and female.

After the tests were done we found out what we were and the results we actually very VERY accurate.

I am Quality Time-meaning I love to spend time with my husband. I would give up working and school to spend time with my husband. When I don't get my time with my husband my attitude and mood change. I just love spending time with him. Either it is sitting on our couch watching a movie or going out bowling or a movie. Just being around him is what I love. That's better than getting all the gifts in the world.

Mickal actually tied with Physical Touch and Acts of Service. I wasn't surprised when Mickal got his results. The physical touch doesn't mean just intimacy, it means showing his love by physically showing me, he likes to hold my hand and put his arm around me. Which obviously I don't mind (hope all wives don't mind that!) Acts of Service is defined as serving his wife and helping in anyway that he can. Telling me to not worry about doing a task because he will do it and just lets me relax. Both those love languages are Mickal to a "T"

I was glad to do this test and it opened my eyes to how we both show love and how we like to feel love. I think taking this test has already helped us so much. Mickal realizes that he likes when I spend time with him. I realized that when he tells me to sit and watch a movie while he cleans the kitchen or something is ok.

If you and your significant other haven't taken this test, I highly recommend it! :)

Find YOUR Passion

The other day I had the privleage to go to a fireside that my aunt organized for her Relief Society and the Young Women in her ward. The speaker was Darrin Adams-former host of KSl's Stuido 5. Also cool fact I am related to him! (Mom's cousin's husband) His main focus of his speech was finding your passion. He named some of his passions his big one for TV Broadcasting and small ones like, finding a bargain. He told us stories of him finding bargains and how he loved the feeling of it. He also talked about it doesn't matter how big or small your passion is, it doesn't matter how often you do it or how strong your talent is in it. It's the feeling you get when you do your passion and the way it makes one feel.

Lately I have been struggling trying to find my passion. In my head your passion was the only thing you did in life. It's what you centered your life about all the time. But in reality it's not. Again, it's back to that feeling you get when you do your passion. My passion since I was in diapers is dancing and always will be dancing. Since graduating high school I don't dance or choregraph. But I miss it more and more everyday. I thought I had to find a new passion becuase I wasn't doing it constantly anymore. But it still gives me that feeling that it used to when I think about it. When I hear a good song I can still come up with a routine in my head. That's when I know it's still my passion and always will be.

There isn't a huge point to this post. But it made me realize how life should be filled with your passions. Big or small passions, your life should be filled with that feeling in the pit of your stomach. If you don't have one find one. Dancing, singing, reading, blogging, or even as simple as Darrin's and finding a bargain. Just find those things that make you YOU!

The Day I said "YES!"

March 9, 2013 was a day I will never forget. It started off as any normal day. Me working in the Gold's Daycare for a regular saturday morning shift. I was so excited to get off work because my amazing boyfriend and I were going on a date that I PLANNED (that was his trick all along).

When I got off work I got home and got all cuted up! My family weirdly all had plans that were different than usual. But didn't think anything of it. Mickal was late picking me up becuase he said he had to go to "Walmart" to pick up a few things (actually went and dropped my ring off at where he was proposing). When he picked me up he was my same Mickal wasn't acting different or anything. Before we went to our date he randomly said he had to drop a video game off at Carl's Jr. where is brother was at with his brother in law. Again still didn't think anything of it because Nate and Mickal love there video games.

FINALLY we were on our way to date which is where we had our first date was. The Ogden Dinosaur park. Yes, it's not the most romantic destination but, it's Mickal and I's place. It's the first place we held hands and got to really know each other. When we got there it was pretty dead. There wasn't anyone there. I was ok with that! When we got there we paid for our tickets and Mickal all of a sudden said "We should to the Gem Cave" I looked at him in shock like really? You want to dig in this little dirt pile for the kids? Again, didn't think anything of it becuase that's the kind of relationship we have. We like to do fun silly things and not have a care in the world.

We walked around the inside of the park until we decided to go to the Gem Cave. I wasn't too thirilled because I was in nice clothes and didn't want to get dirty. But again that's what love is doing what the other person wants to do because you love them. So the lady gave up our shovel and buckets and explained what we were looking for. She said you will be looking for little velvet bags with "rocks" in them. I understood and we started digging. This is when I think I thought it was going to happen becuase Mickal started acting WEIRD! Not his normal self! After digging for 5 minutes I found a purple velvet bag and threw it in the bucket and Mickal looked at me and said "You should look what is in that bag" This is when it happened....I opened the bag and the most gorgeous "rock" fell out when I say "rock" it was my diamond engagement ring. As I stared at the ring I was in shock. I looked up and Mickal was on one knee. He took my hand and said "Brittney Ann Jenson will you marry me?" I looked at him and yelled "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" I said that like 4 times until he looked at me seriously and said "YES I AM SERIOUS!" :) Of course I said "YES!!!" Then I turned around and there was my dad, mom, sisters and soon to be brother in law! I screamed and couldn't believe what was happening! I came out of the cave and hugged my parents and cried and showed them my ring with a huge smile on my face. We took pictures and laughed and smile.  Nothing can explain how happy I was in the moment. I couldn't of asked for a better engagement. After we left the dinosaur park we called and texted our family and made them aware of our good news :)

After that we went to walmart bought TONS of junk food and bought my favorite movie series TWILIGHT and spent the night enjoying each other and talking about our future.

Again, that day will be a day that I never forget. Finally getting to the point of our engagement. After dating, a mission and pre-mission life. It was our turn for our ever after! Marrying the man I waited so long for is amazing and couldn't ask for a better eteranl companion :)
